Morning Matters is a series of coffee conversations that bring decision-makers together with early childhood professionals, advocates, and community members. These informal sessions create meaningful dialogue about how policy decisions impact children, families, and the professionals who serve them.

In the lead-up to important elections in 2026, First Steps Kent has partnered with Michigan's Children to host Early Childhood Candidate Forums. In July, we hosted candidates from Michigan Senate District 29 and House District 80.

The goal is to strengthen relationships between policymakers and the early childhood community to create better outcomes for Kent County families.
