Home Visiting with Vibrant Futures

“Let them lead the way when we play,” was the takeaway from one parent who recently participated in Vibrant Futures’ Little Scholars, a Home Visiting program funded by the Ready by Five Early Childhood Millage.

Children play and learn when they have the support and encouragement of interactive parents and caregivers. Having a session with a home visiting coach adds a fun, meaningful activity to the monotony of daily caregiving.

Learning is natural with age-appropriate toys and activities. Ashley and her mom, Maria, play grocery store. Ashley, the cashier, is labeling vegetables and fruits and counting as she goes. Maria understands the importance of being on her child’s level, engaging with her child, and letting Ashley lead the way.

Parents report that the Little Scholars program helps them improve their parenting skills and gain confidence as a parent. The Little Scholars program is a parent and relative-caregiver coaching model delivered in homes, caregiver homes, centers, institutions of trust, and other convenient locations for children ages zero to five. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, service delivery has been either in-home with social distancing and safety protocols in place, or virtually.
