Give families the tools they need to provide opportunities for their children.

  • Visit first-time parents in the hospital and offer a home visit within the first few weeks of their child’s life
  • Offer families a menu of services to address the medical, social, intellectual and emotional needs of young children and their caregivers
  • Provide a first call for help where families can get immediate answers to their questions as well as referrals to community resources

Help all children access quality healthcare.

  • Improve the health and well-being of children in Kent County by connecting families to a quality medical home
  • Remove the logistical and cultural barriers keeping many families from receiving quality healthcare
  • Save money in the delivery of healthcare by reducing the need for hospitalization and emergency room usage

Improve the early learning opportunities that build healthy brains.

  • Enrich the early education experiences of young children by providing professional development, training and coaching to all types of caregivers–licensed providers as well as family members and neighbors
  • Establish a quality-rating system to increase the number of high-performing child care centers
  • Educate parents so they can identify and select excellent care

Make children and families an urgent community priority.

  • Raise awareness and understanding of the needs of Kent County’s children and families
  • Make the case that an investment in young children is an investment in our community’s future
  • Mobilize the resources and community support to build and sustain a network of early childhood services, so that every child in Kent County will have the opportunity to succeed
